Visitors to Hedley Hall can enjoy much in the area. As well as having horse riding available on site, there is good fishing available nearby at Beamish Lakes and at Angel of the North Fishing Lakes.

We are central to all of the attractions within Northumbria, so there are many reasons to extend your stay. The historic Causey Arch railway bridge, the first of its kind in the world, and Tanfield Steam Railway are literally on the doorstep and must be visited. Beamish Open Air Museum and the Victorian pleasure grounds of Gibside Chapel are a few minutes drive away.

For shopping, restaurants, nightlife, theatres and museums Newcastle, Durham and the Metro Centre are all within a 20 minute drive.

To the west lies the bustling market town of Hexham and nearby Corbridge. Hadrian's Wall offers many visitor sites along its length and there are watersports and wildlife to enjoy at Kielder Forest and Reservoir.

The northeast coast is renowned for its beauty and a visit is not complete without a drive to Holy Island, Bamburgh or Warkworth. Near to the coast, the lively towns of Alnwick and Morpeth provide yet more historical interest.

And don't forget the new award winning attractions at Gateshead Quays.

Millennium Bridge
Gateshead Millennium Bridge

The Gateshead Millennium Bridge links the attractions on both sides of the River Tyne. It is a stunning pedestrian and cycle bridge and operates like the giant lid of an eye slowly opening, forming an arch under which ships can pass. It is a 'must see' piece of engineering and the first project at the heart of the new cultural quarter which includes luxury hotels, bars, restaurants, clubs, the BALTIC and a new Music Centre.

BALTIC is the major new international centre for contemporary art. The former Baltic Flour Mills, a 1950's grain warehouse, has been transformed into a leading international visual art space, one of the largest temporary art spaces in Europe. The BALTIC houses over 3000 sqm of art space in five galleries, artists' studios, a cinema/lecture space, a library and archive for the study of contemporary art, a bookshop and three different food and drink spaces including a Rooftop Restaurant with amazing views of Tyneside. Admission is FREE.
